We have had many debates within the Club about what we can do to revive junior cricket which used to be one of the key success factors for Kimble.
With this in mind I'm excited to tell you about a new ECB initiative which I believe could provide a lifeline for us if we make the most of the opportunity it presents. It is called 'All Stars Cricket' and it focuses on attracting 5-8 year olds to cricket. The ECB are putting a lot of money and resources into this initiative and as well as advertising Kimble as a club which supports All Stars cricket they would provide us with all the equipment we need to run sessions and boys and girls who sign up to play will receive their own personalised cricket kit.
We are well positioned to make a success of All Stars cricket because we have ECB Clubmark accreditation, good facilities and a wonderful safe playing space for kids but what we really need to make this a success is the support of our club members to help run and organise the sessions.
We are fortunate to have a number of qualified cricket coaches in the club but what All Stars cricket really needs is what they call 'Cricket Activators' i.e. enthusiastic and energetic people who enjoy working with children or who might have their own 5-8 year olds who they want to introduce to cricket. Activators will be fully supported by the ECB and Bucks Cricket Board and will be given all the support and training they need to run successful All Stars programmes. It would also be great experience for anyone who is thinking about working with children as a career.
The purpose of this email is therefore to seek volunteers from within the club to become Activators and to help revive Kimble Cricket Club by attracting a new generation of cricketers and their parents to the club. The commitment is only for 8 one hour sessions over 8 weeks in the summer and it could make a real difference for the future of the club.
