Kimble Cricket Club Won
Match report
Kimble cross the line to keep momentum going
On a scorching hot Saturday we won the toss and had a bowl. Sam got us an early breakthrough of Richard Carr, who had smashed a double hundred the week before. Phil and Stuart kept things tight, with a couple of one handed chances going astray. The roses chipped in with wickets of their own, and we found ourselves in a match winning position, with Thame at 113-9. However a resilient last wicket stand between young Will Hawthorne and their skipper managed to take them to 144, before Phil finished them off.
Then it was our turn to bat, with Captain Bob returning to the top of the order, and Dan Bull falling cheaply again. Bob and Johnny put in a solid partnership; with some handy extras ticking the scoreboard along. Then came a controversial moment in the match: the ball was bowled, the ball touched something, Thame went up, and Johnny survived. However this was short lift as he chipped up tamely to mid off. This allowed a relentless spell from Thames captain to get them back in the match. A Kimble crumble looked on the cards at 120-8, however Phil and Stuart were able to see us home to claim a third victory in a row, much to the delight of the fans, who as ever enjoyed their day out at the cricket.
