Kimble Cricket Club Sunday XI v Dinton on Sun 01 Sep 2013 at 2.00 pm
Kimble Cricket Club Won

Match report After the events of Saturday, everyone was hoping and expecting a quiet game on Sunday, how wrong they were! It was a glorious day at The Kimble Oval and after winning the toss Dinton made the easy decision to bat first. The day didn't start well for the bears with opener Nugget getting Dinton off to a flyer, but the combination of Jordan Price and Captain Jon Stackhouse struck twice to give Kimble a start. Chances came regularly throughout the innings with Kimble struggling to hold onto....any....of their chances. Kimble bowled consistently throughout the entire innings but with Dintons opener Nugget scoring 100 in no time the chase looked like it could be upwards of three hundred. However when Nugget retired the game changed. Dinton who looked at ease, on 220 with 8 overs to go then limped to 248 from their 40. Some fantastic death bowling from Stuart Skeggs and Phil Semmens limiting Dinton to much less than they wanted. Then it was Kimbles turn to bat and after saying before "I am GOING to score a ton today" all i was on vice captain Brad Rose, and he did not disappoint, batting beautifully throughout the innings, however at the other end wickets came and when Steven 'Big Time' Richards (Kimble's Overseas German Pro) came in the score was 55-2 with Kimble need almost 200 more to win. But the pair batted well and put on a wonderful 123 run partnership which at one stage looked like it would win the game by its self, but it is never that easy with Kimble, when Steven fell with the score on 178, and Jordan McCrae fell just two balls later the fans grew a little restless, even a run a ball 25 from the Captain did little to settle the nerves! Brad eventually fell on 111 and people started getting tense! The score was edging closer when the skipper fell leaving Kimble on 235-6 which turned to 238-7 and then 243-8 and then 243-9. The memories of Saturday came flooding back and we wondered if we would be disappointed again but every club has one man that can be relied on! Every club has one man who stands up and says "No i will be the hero you need!" and that man was Stuart Skeggs, who needing four runs of the last over calmly blocked the first two and the dispatched the third for a one bounce four! Giving Kimble a victory they thoroughly deserved!
