Twyford 3 v Kimble Cricket Club Second XI on Sat 20 Jun 2015 at 13:00
Kimble Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets

Match report Great result for the 2's at the weekend. Having to travel to Bicester again to play Twyford 3s with only 9 men didn't look good. But with Tony S winning the toss for a change, things were looking up and so he decided to have a bowl against a young Twyford team. With only 9 men it was a case of keeping the runs down and giving us a low target to chase, which we achieved. But the first half of this game was a game of breaks, first there was the dog poo on the pitch break, then there was the fly in the batsman's eye break, then the first rain break followed by a drinks break. But in between all the breaks the bowlers all bowled tightly picking up wickets at regular intervals despite playing in a persistent drizzle which made the ball hard to grasp. Stuart S and Arul N started the innings well both giving nothing away, Stuart S finishing with 3 for 18 off his 9 overs. The one and only Mo took over from Arul and continued to restrict Twyford from scoring. Although, not taking a wicket Mo's 7 overs only costing 25 runs. Derek P took over from Stuart S and bowled his usual array of balls claiming two wickets, including another slip catch for Tony S. Derek should have had another wicket but with the batsman two to three yards outside his crease Alex R failed to take the bails off as his arms couldn't reach the stumps, so he said. Arul N then came back to take the last 3 wickets to finish with 4 for 33 off 11.
We then had to wait an hour and quarter to start our innings as a tremendous downpour soaked the square but at 5.15 the run chase began. This time Arun S (6) and Buddika S (8) both went cheaply, Buddika trying to hit Twyford's 14 year old back over his head only to be through his shot before the ball arrived and was bowled. After this early setback Tony S (23) and Pete D (32no) put on 57 for the third wicket, the majority in singles, before Tony S was runout going for a third, obviously he was too quick for Pete. I don't know youngsters! But in came in form Alex R, he only lasted 4 balls but the first 3 were hit for 4, which is exactly what Arul N did, hitting 3 fours to see us to victory before any more rain came. The victory keeping us in 4th position but closing the gap on the teams above us. A word of thanks goes to Colin D for being our umpire, this is a great help to the 2s, even though he did get a bit damp as we carried on in the rain.
