Dinton 3 v Kimble Cricket Club Second XI on Sat 04 Jul 2015 at 13:00

Match report A warm sunny day, a nice setting and 11 players, what more could you ask for; Tony S winning the toss, well 3 out 4 isn't bad. So the 2s were batting first again, I've heard that Arun S is contemplating turning up next week already padded up. After surviving a first ball lbw appeal because his cap slipped over his eyes Arun S (58) then proceeded to hit the Dinton attack all around the ground with Tony S (55) a spectator at the other end. With a fair number of byes and wides, Arun S and Tony S put on 104 in 21 overs before Arun S drove to early and spooned a chance to Dinton's captain. With Arun S gone Tony S started to score more freely and with Buddika S (39) dealing only in boundaries, Kimble continued to score at 5 an over. Once Tony S had gone Pete D (51) made sure the run rate was maintained and the 250 was brought up in the 43rd over. Pete D was then bowled, much to his disgust, after Tony S signalled for them to keep scoring. Next in was Alex R (Golden), which left Niron J (10 no) and the innings closing on 255.

A much better start this week as the opening bowlers Stuart S (2 for 25) and Jon R tied the Dinton openers down, Stuart picking up the first wicket in the fifth over. Dinton never had the batsmen to go after the 255 target especially after Mo removed the danger man Syed for 5, bowling the stock ball of the full toss which is mishit, this time to Pete D. The Dinton opener Reynolds was the only player who looked like he could bat and when he was dropped by Alex (I'm having a good day) R off the bowling of Jon R, it might have been costly but not today, Alex did hold on to one when Stuart picked up his second wicket. Wickets started to fall at regular intervals with Jordan P (1 for 22) and Arul (1 for 15) both bowling well, the game also saw Niron J (2 for 17) take his first wickets for Kimble. However, Kimble then had 11 overs to get the final wicket for victory but with the batsmen blocking out we couldn't find that right ball to claim the 25 points.

Following his impressive spell of 7 overs for only 14 runs and one wicket, I'm hoping that Mo will be in the Mahmood for winning the toss at Tew next week. Also, thanks to Gary (I've bought some coloured pens for scoring) R for umpiring whilst his scoring role was taken by Derek P aided by the one and only Lester F.
