Match report Well the season finished on a low with defeat to Thame 3s in the Division 9 cup semi final. Losing the toss yet again we were batting first again, this time on a slightly damp wicket which offered some help to the bowlers as the 2s found themselves 23 for 4 off 6 overs. This week it was Jordan P (91 not out) and Arul N (13) and then Usman K (19) to build innings and set a realistic target. Jordan batting well but unable to get on strike during the middle overs, which cost him a century. Stuart S (20) added some quick runs at the end so that Kimble finished on 172 for 9 off their 45 overs.

In reply the 2s bowlers really tied Thame down, with first Stuart S and Mo M restricting Thame to 23 off their first 10 overs. This did include 2 dropped catches from wicketkeeper Tony S, which thankfully didn’t prove costly. The good start was carried on by Arul N (1 for 15) and Nathan P (2 for 28) so that Thame had still only scored 55 off 25 overs. It was then that Thames number 3 Holmes (a 2nd team regular) starting to get going and it was Usman K and Jordan P that suffered. Jordan, unfortunately, having 18 hit off his over. Despite our best efforts the 2s couldn’t get wickets to slow the run chase and Thame hit the winning runs with 3 overs to spare.

Despite this loss we achieved our target of getting promotion so the season was a success and everyone contributed at some stage during the season. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed the games and are looking forward to the challenges of Division 8.
