Westbury 2 v Kimble Cricket Club Second XI on Sat 21 May 2016 at 13:00
Match was Drawn

Match report Well we got a team out at the third time of asking, so thanks to Colin D for making up to eleven. We arrived at Westbury to their nearly opened Village Hall with the forecast rain yet to arrive. Tony S actually won the toss and decided to have a bowl, so Stuart S and Mark T opened the bowling. Their first overs were tight and only conceded a couple of runs but after that the Westbury openers got going and started finding the boundary. Although, they were scoring quickly with their aggressive batting they were also giving chances and so Mark T picked up the first wicket of the season in the sixth over with the score on 41. Stuart followed shortly after claiming the other opener when a snick behind was well caught by the diving Alex R, who kept well throughout the afternoon. As it turned out all the Westbury batsman played in the same way and they were averaging around seven an over but during their innings we put down 6 chances. After an hour the rain came but it was the fine drizzle, which meant we stayed out there until it got harder. We went off twice for rain but the stoppages did not stop the Westbury batsman, so after 30 overs their captain declared with the score 195 for 8, meaning Kimble had 50 overs to get the runs. Well done to all the bowlers for sticking at it in testing conditions.
So after tea Ali W and Arun S opened the innings in fine drizzle, which was to continue for the rest of the day, and were in no trouble until Ali (14) going for a single was sent back by Arun (49) but didn't make it. Next in Buddika S (8) never really got going and was caught in the covers. Alex R (21) and Arun put on a 50 partnership in 9 overs, which was only slowed when Westbury went to spin from both ends. This slow the runs down completely with Arun getting stuck on 49 for 6 overs. During this time the rain had been getting harder and Colin D had been getting wetter as he stood at square leg for 20 overs. Alex was then caught plum in front to give the umpire an easy LBW decision. Five overs later Arun was caught behind trying to pull the ball and two balls later Niron J was given out LBW. As he was walking off the rain came down harder and so the teams came off not to return. Although, Westbury wanted to go out it wasn't in our interests and so the umpire, eventually, declared the game over.
