Match report A good all round performance saw the 2s have a comprehensive victory on Saturday, the result made even better with three of the other games abandoned due to the rain. With team selection not a problem this week, the 2s welcomed back Alex R, Jordan P and Nathan P from the firsts. With Tony S winning another toss, he decided to have a bowl. Stuart S (2 for 22) and Mark T (0 for 20) opened the bowling and tied Bledlow Ridge down straight from the start with the first wicket coming in the seventh over, Tony S taking the catch at point. The scoring continued at roughly 2 an over with wickets falling at regular intervals after Arun S, unfortunately put down a chance at mid off. Bledlow were beginning to put together a partnership when their batsman hit the ball into the cover and set off for the run, the ball was close enough to Mo for him to pick up one handed and, with one stump to aim at, hit the stumps at the bowlers end with the batsman miles out. Umpire Gary R was almost taken out by the batsman as he skidded in on the wet grass, luckily for the batsman Gary R didn't land on him. Nathan P (4 for 14) then took 2 in 2 but couldn't make it a hat-trick but he was soon taking a superb diving catch as the ball spooned up and everyone watched as he dived full length to earn Derek P (2 for 28) his second wicket. Mo M (1 for 18) again bowling well, picked up his wicket with his slower ball. Bledlow then proceeded to block out with 10 overs to go making little attempt to score so Stuart S and Nathan P were brought back to get the final wicket, which Nathan did in the 44 over. Bledlow being bowled out for 105.
Ali W (15) and Arun S (8) opened the innings and helped by 14 wides took the score to 35 before Arun was once again out LBW, Ali followed shortly afterwards caught in the slips with the score on 42. That was the end of the wickets as Buddika S (35 no) and Alex R (32 no) put on 64 to see us through to victory in just over 22 overs. The result means we have closed the gap on the teams above us.
