Banbury 5 v Kimble Cricket Club Second XI on Sat 30 Jul 2016 at 13:00
Kimble Cricket Club Lost by 41 runs

Match report Kimble 2's suffered their first defeat of the season away at Banbury V's. Once again the focus of the week was just getting a team out following the loss of two regulars, Derek P and Mo M. Mo losing his appendix following last Sunday's match. Tony S won the toss and decided to have a bowl, again we took to the field with eight as three were delayed. Mark T (2 for 28) and Nathan P (5 for 51) bowled well and Banbury soon found themselves 20 for 2, Mark T picking up both wickets. A double bowling change continued to restrict Banbury and they were soon 41 for 5, Ahktar Z (2 for 48) and Qasim A (1 for 26) doing the damage. But again Kimble couldn't press home the advantage and Banbury built two partnerships, one of 45 and one of 54, thanks to their 3rd team player, R Freeman. These partnerships took the score to 152, after Tony S dropped a catch that he normally takes, once the second partnership was broken Nathan P wrapped up the innings with the last 3 wickets falling for 5 runs. Alex Ross taking two catches, it should have been three as he palmed one to MArk T at slip. A good performance from everyone who kept going to the end.
In reply the Banbury bowlers made use of their pitch that produced variable bounce with some rising off a length, this meant that scoring was slow. First to go was Arun S (8) caught at square leg followed quickly by Buddika S, who went for nought, then Alex R (9). Tony S (16) then got a shooter that didn't bounce at all this after taking three on the gloves, this left Kimble 36 for 4. Qasim A (4) and Martin L (golden) went with the score on 46. There then followed the best partnership (49) of the innings as Niron J (17 yes 17) and Nathan P (32) started to ease the danger and pushed the score along. With these two at the crease a draw looked on until Niron J tried to hit a straight one over cow and was bowled, Nathan P followed 13 runs later. We now had eight overs to survive, then four with Matt and Mark Travers at the crease. But it wasn't to be as Mark T was bowled fourth ball. Despite the loss a game played in a good spirit. Onwards to next week and the challenge of getting eleven out.
