Long Marston v Kimble Cricket Club First XI on Sat 26 Aug 2017 at 12:30
Kimble Cricket Club Lost
Match report
Even on a nice sunny day, dark clouds still held firm over Kimble as they succumbed to a heavy 7 wicket defeat at the hands of Long Marston. The meet time of 11.30 came and the usual players were there, while several continued to turn up whenever they wanted. Jack took this to the limit and strolled over to ground at around 12.40, 3 overs into the game. He probably wishes he had stayed in bed as he went on to get a duck. Kimble won the toss and had a bat, but could not get anything going, with Pete the only player showing enough fight, hanging around for 26 overs, but would have been bitterly disappointed with his dismissal. Another middle order collapse meant Kimble went from 82-3 to 119 all out, with Alex Ross completing his hattrick of ducks. When questioned by chief reporter Mark Travers on his sides batting frailties, Bradley said: “It has now become a big confidence issue for many of our players, who just freeze when they get out in the middle. With one game to go, I just hope they can relax and play their natural games.”
The run chase had only a few interesting moments, with Alex Ross officially announcing his retirement from cricket, and Raza commenting on how it is always better to bowl first. Kimble play Kingston Bagpuize in the final game of the season, and it would be great to end a tough season with a cheeky win.
