Match report Following the disappointing result last week, hopes were high especially as we had, on paper, the strongest batting line up since the opening game of the season. There was a league debut for Pratik and we welcomed back Jordan P from injury and Ben R, rested from the firsts. Challow won the toss and elected to bat. Unfortunately, we couldn't get any early wickets Raja beating the bat on a number of occasions but he would finish up wicketless for the second week running. Mark T steady as ever couldn't get the break through. Jordan P (2 for 48) came on first change and in his second over bowled the opener. Ben R (2 for 75) then picked up the other opener thanks to Pratik P, who took the first of his three catches on the boundary. Another wicket each for Jordan and Ben and Challow were 102 for 4. Then the game started to go away from Kimble as N.Hill started to find the boundary and corn field with ease plus a few shots that just alluded the fielders. He scored a quick 88 until he was run out by a direct hit by Pratik, which left Kimble needing 236 to win.
Another bad start as Tony S went third ball and then Arun S (4) ran himself out. Pratik (22) and Usman R (17) started to build an innings but both went after getting in as did Jordan P (19), Raja (16) and Ben R (14). Raja hitting his customary couple of sixes. It was left to Mark T (10 no) and Pete S (10) to try and bat out for a draw but there were too many overs left and they fell 6 short.
As we start the second half of the season, hopefully, our fortunes will change and batsmen will find some form and the bowlers will pick up the wickets their bowling deserve.
