Stokenchurch 2 v Kimble Cricket Club Second XI on Sat 15 Jul 2017 at 13:00
Match was Drawn

Match report The seconds hit over 270 and declare for the second week running but again have to settle for the draw. At an overcast Stokenchurch the toss was lost again and Kimble were invited to bat. This week it was Arun S (68) who got the runs flowing early with Tony S (7) a passenger at the other end. Arun was finding batting easy whilst Tony dragged one on from 2 feet outside off. In came "Raja" and against a young Stokenchurch attack started to find the boundary, although he wasn't timing everything. Arun and Raja kept the runs ticking over until Arun holed out on the boundary for a Kimble League high score of 68. Usman (36) then joined Raja and they both kept the score going. This brought in the declaration scenario and when to call the players in. But with players kewing up to bat, Usman ran himself out, which gave Buddika S a couple of overs to get a few runs but no he used his pad for the first few balls and decided to have a heave at one and was bowled. This gave Martin L another not out performance when Tony S decided to call the players in when Raja was caught for a magnificent 134 at the end of the 40th over. So Stokenchurch had 50 overs to get 271.

Unfortunately, Stokenchurch sent out their usual opening pair of grumpy P.Langford and "I can't hit the ball" B. Robinson. For the second week running the opposition had no intention of going for the runs and were happy to stroll along at three an over. Mark T and Mo M opened the bowling and couldn't get the early wicket which was needed. Qasim, who bowled brilliantly beating the bat on numerous occasions but not getting the edge, Raja also couldn't get the break through. At wasn't until Usman ( I mustn't stay out until 2 in the morning drinking) was given the ball and bowled Robinson in his first over that Kimble got their first wicket. Another quick one was needed but it didn't come as the Stokenchurch number 3 started to go after the bowling, particular Mo's second spell but he stuck at it and removed Langford courtesy of catch in the slips from Mark T. This was the break through needed and Raja came back and quickly bowled three but that was it until the very last ball when Arun dropped a catch but had enough time to run out the batsman.
The overall task was made slightly more difficult with the departure of Niron J with 20 overs to go as he had to nip over to Ross-on-Wye for a wedding reception. But another good performance from everyone involved so roll on next week.
