Cropredy 3 v Kimble Cricket Club Second XI on Sat 05 Aug 2017 at 13:00
Kimble Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets
Match report
Kimble returned to winning ways against Cropredy with dogged display at Banbury. Tony S lost the toss but was surprised when their skipper choose to bat on a soft wicket. Raja and Raza opened the bowling and although the first over went for eight after that scoring was hard on a wicket with variable bounce. Raja picking up the first two wickets whilst Raza was bowling quick, bowling 7 maidens in his 14 overs. Whilst the batsman weren't scoring, the score was ticking over through wides and byes. Mark T then dropped the Cropredy number 4 who would then go on to anchor the innings before he was stumped by Pete S off the bowling of Mark T for 41. In between Raja took a smart catch on the boundary, Martin L one at slip and Tony S had another direct hit for a run out. In the end Cropredy finished on 127 for 7 off the 45 overs.
During the tea interval there was a shower of rain but this had passed before the Kimble innings began. Tony S (43) and Ben R (2) opened the innings and it was to be a slow run chase, Ben R and Usman R (7) going cheaply whilst Tony S struggling against the slow bowling from the Cropredy youngster. Although, we slipped to 79 for 5 there was still plenty of time left, it just needed one big over to shift momentum and this was delivered by John D (20), who hit 12 off one over which had already seen for taken. So John D ably supported by in form Martin L (18 not out) took us to within striking distance. As John D was caught the rain returned and it was too heavy to continue so Pete S brought the teams off with 4 needed. Luckily, the rain only lasted 10 minutes and the game only one ball as Raza hit the first ball for four for deserved Kimble victory.
